Mexico's Manzanillo III Combined Cycle Plant Adds 357 MW to National Grid

President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the Manzanillo III combined‑cycle power plant in Colima, Mexico. The new 357 MW facility brings the Manzanillo complex to a total capacity of 2,860 MW, serving about 800,000 users and supporting the country's energy‑sovereignty agenda.

The plant is part of the Federal Electricity Commission’s (CFE) expansion plan, which aims to increase efficiency, cut water use by 93 million litres annually and reduce carbon emissions by roughly 937 tonnes each year – the equivalent of removing more than 312,000 cars from the road. The project created over a thousand jobs during construction and is intended to improve grid reliability and facilitate integration of renewable sources.
