Mexico's Morena names Manuel Zavala interim Secretary of Organization

Mexico's ruling party Morena announced that its National Executive Committee has appointed Manuel Jesús Zavala Salazar, previously secretary of Social Movements, as interim Secretary of Organization. The change follows the resignation of Andrés "Andy" López Beltrán, who stepped down on May 25 to seek a federal deputy seat in Chiapas.

The move is presented as part of Morena's effort to strengthen its internal structure ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. Alongside Zavala, national party president Ariadna Montiel and finance secretary Óscar del Cueto García have joined the party's National Election Commission, which is chaired by Citlalli Hernández Mora. The Secretariat of Organization is responsible for national mobilization, territorial coordination, affiliation, credentialing and maintenance of the party's membership registry.

Morena emphasizes that the appointment aims to ensure continuity in its electoral strategy and organizational duties as it prepares for future elections.
