Mexico's Municipal Police Receive Training to Combat Digital Violence

Around 50 municipal police staff in Mexico participated in a specialized training on digital violence conducted by the Secretariat of Women. The session, attended by administrative personnel, police cadets and crime‑prevention instructors, covered the main forms of online abuse such as harassment, non‑consensual dissemination of intimate content, cyberstalking, identity theft and other violations of privacy and personal rights.

Trainers highlighted legal tools like the Ley Olimpia, which criminalises the non‑consensual sharing of intimate images, and emphasized how officials can guide the public on reporting mechanisms, secure password use, two‑factor authentication and other protective practices. The aim is to strengthen the police force’s capacity to prevent and respond to digital violence, thereby safeguarding citizens in digital environments.
