Mexico's National Weather Service issues severe storm and dust warnings for Tamaulipas

The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional warned that a combination of tropical waves, atmospheric instability and an out‑of‑season cold front will bring strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail to large parts of Mexico. In Tamaulipas, gusts of 60–80 km/h are expected, raising the risk of dust storms and sudden flash floods, especially in open areas. The agency also indicated that the southwest of the state should prepare for intense thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Temperatures will remain extremely high in the north‑western and northern regions, prompting authorities to advise residents to take precautions against rapid flooding and strong wind gusts.

The alert covers multiple states, with similar wind speeds forecast for Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Durango, and heavy rain expected across Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Durango, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Puebla and the State of Mexico, among others.
