Mexico's new parties PAZ and Somos México surpass PAN membership and secure state funding
The newly registered national parties PAZ and Somos México have begun operations with membership rolls that exceed those of the long‑standing Partido Acción Nacional (PAN). According to data released by the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) on 25 June 2026, PAZ entered with 336,155 affiliates and Somos México with 294,094, while the PAN recorded 277,665 members.
Both parties will each receive roughly 3.1 million Mexican pesos in state subsidies for 2026. The allocation includes about 2.97 million pesos for ordinary activities and an additional 148,000 pesos for specific projects, as approved by the INE's General Council.
Morena remains the party with the largest membership nationwide, followed by PRI and other established parties, but the emergence of PAZ and Somos México reshapes the Mexican party landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
