Mexico's PAN launches citizen candidacy drive in Baja California and urges resignations over party switching

The National Action Party (PAN) in Baja California announced a public selection process for candidates to run for governor and municipal offices in the 2027 elections. Citizens can register through the party’s “Quiero Ser Candidato” app, upload documentation and meet the party’s requirements. PAN officials said the initiative has already attracted more than 8,000 registrations nationwide since its launch in October 2025, with the evaluation phase set to conclude in September. “Para que los ciudadanos levanten la mano para ser representantes de la patria, de la familia y de la libertad,” the party’s national committee delegate Adriana Aguilar said at the press conference.

In Campeche, PAN local deputy Jhosué Rodríguez Golib warned party member José Inurreta Borges that if he sympathizes with another party he should resign from PAN. Rodríguez emphasized that PAN will compete without coalitions, citing better electoral performance when the party runs independently. “Si ya simpatiza con otro partido, que renuncie al PAN,” he declared, underscoring the party’s stance on internal discipline and its strategic direction ahead of upcoming elections.
