Mexico's PAN proposes Chihuahua constitutional overhaul to block narco‑politics

PAN state leader Daniela Álvarez announced that the party's congressional bench in Chihuahua will introduce a constitutional amendment aimed at preventing organized‑crime groups from influencing elections. The draft would allow any election with evidence of criminal interference to be annulled and bar candidates linked to such groups from holding office. Approval requires a two‑thirds majority in the state congress, and PAN officials urged the ruling Morena party to back the measure.

Separately, PAN parliamentary coordinator Marcos Castro defended the distribution of flyers featuring federal deputy Liliana Ortiz at the Spain‑Peru football match in Puebla's Estadio Cuauhtémoc. He said the pamphlets only listed match schedules and did not constitute campaign activity, stressing that no public funds were used for their production, and contrasted this with alleged misuse of resources by Morena officials ahead of the 2027 elections.
