Mexico's Para Powerlifting Selection Event Draws 100 Athletes

Around 100 para‑powerlifters from every Mexican state will compete from 5 to 9 August 2026 at the Centro Paralímpico Mexicano (CEPAMEX) in Mexico City. The competition is the second stage of the Mexican Para Powerlifting Circuit and serves as a key qualifier for the 2026 Parapan American Open Championship, the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games and the 2027 Lima Parapan Games. Marks achieved are recognised by World Para Powerlifting and count toward the international ranking.

The event is organized by the Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (CONADE) in partnership with the Comité Paralímpico Mexicano (COPAME) and national sport federations. Athletes must finish among the top five women or top six men in the Americas ranking between 1 January 2025 and 10 August 2026 to earn a place on the national team.
