Mexico's President Sheinbaum completes new IMSS Bienestar hospitals in Tabasco and Morelos

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the completion of civil works at the IMSS Bienestar General Hospital in Cárdenas, Tabasco. The project, finished with the help of military engineers, involved an investment of over 617 million pesos and will provide 160 beds plus specialized cardio‑renal, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services.

Sheinbaum also inaugurated the IMSS Bienestar General Hospital in Jiutepec, Morelos, a 66‑bed facility built with 715 million pesos. The hospital includes 18 consult rooms, three operating theatres and a “smart” operating room equipped with robotic arms and remote‑surgery capabilities, as well as a dedicated maternity unit. It is expected to serve more than 200 000 residents and create 525 jobs.

Both hospitals are part of the government’s National Hospital Infrastructure Plan, which aims to add 9,139 beds and invest 181 billion pesos in public health facilities during Sheinbaum’s six‑year term, emphasizing universal health access for all Mexicans.
