Mexico's public transport sees 244 million trips in April, INEGI reports
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 244.1 million passenger trips were recorded on public‑transport systems in Mexico during April, a 5.1 % increase over the same month in 2025. The Mexico City metropolitan area accounted for the highest usage, with 179.2 million riders, 6 % above the previous year. The metro carried the most passengers (100.4 million), followed by Metrobús (34.9 million) and Mexibús (9.8 million). Other systems such as the trolleybus, suburban train, light rail and cable‑car also reported growth, while León, Acapulco, Juárez and Chihuahua saw declines.
