Quintana Roo, Zacatecas advance circular economy and development plans

The Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDE) of Quintana Roo, led by Paul Carrillo de Cáceres, took part in the "Sargazo Circular: Connecting Innovation, Business and Environmental Impact" forum. The event highlighted local firms converting sargassum into bio‑fertilizers, consumer goods, biodigestion products and sustainable construction materials, showcasing how a circular‑economy approach can turn an environmental problem into jobs and investment. Carrillo said sargassum offers a chance to create new value chains that diversify the state’s economy and pledged continued collaboration among businesses, academia and government.

In Zacatecas, the State Economic Development Council (CEDEZ) presented progress on its agenda to translate cross‑sector dialogue into concrete actions. Using a penta‑helix model that links government, industry, academia, civil society and the environment, CEDEZ reported initiatives such as the POSiBLE Crece e Impacta program, credit fairs, tourism and women’s entrepreneurship forums, and international linkages aimed at attracting investment and strengthening local enterprises. The effort is overseen by the state’s Secretary of Economy, Jorge Miranda Castro, under Governor David Monreal Ávila, with a roadmap extending to 2026.
