Mexico's Ricardo Monreal launches La Salle University Parliamentary Model for youth

Deputy Ricardo Monreal Ávila, president of Mexico's Junta de Coordinación Política, inaugurated the University Parliamentary Model at Universidad La Salle’s Nezahualcóyotl campus. More than 300 students from diverse fields took an oath and began a simulated legislative session, using a historic 1824 bell to mark proceedings.

Monreal stressed the need for a new generation of social leaders, urging participants to uphold principles such as humility, honesty, perseverance and empathy. He highlighted the importance of engaging with citizens during the Chamber of Deputies’ recess and noted that the exercise mirrors real parliamentary debates, including committees on justice, education, science and the economy.

The event aims to train young people in legislative processes and public service, positioning them for future roles in Mexico's political life.
