Mexico's Saturday 'Hoy No Circula' limits vehicles on July 18, 2026
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Mexico's "Hoy No Circula" program will restrict traffic in all 16 boroughs of Mexico City and numerous municipalities in the State of Mexico. All vehicles bearing hologram 2 are prohibited, and vehicles with hologram 1 are banned if their license plates end in an odd number. The restriction runs from 05:00 to 22:00.
Exemptions include cars with holograms 00 or 0, electric and hybrid vehicles, passenger‑transport vehicles, and any vehicle with a current state verification. Drivers who violate the rule face a fine of 20 to 30 times the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (approximately $2,346 – $3,520). The program remains in effect because no environmental contingency has been declared.
