Mexico's Secretariat of Culture launches free summer theatre program for children

The Mexican Secretariat of Culture, through the Centro Cultural Helénico, is offering a free summer programme aimed at children and early teenagers. Three workshops run from 20 – 24 July 2026 for ages 6‑8 ("Historias con huella"), 9‑12 ("Acción en juego") and 13‑16 ("Siempre he querido actuar de árbol"), plus a theatrical experience for the youngest children, 0‑8, titled "El mar enamorado" that runs 4 July‑2 August.

Secretary Claudia Curiel de Icaza said, “Creemos que el garantizar el acceso al arte y la cultura desde los primeros años de vida es una forma de construir bienestar, contribuir a su desarrollo integral y fortalecer el tejido social desde las familias y las comunidades.” The initiative includes special discounts and free entry to encourage broad participation.

The programme is part of the government's commitment to expand artistic access and nurture creativity, imagination and social skills among young audiences.
