Mexico's Segob establishes task force for vulnerable inmates
Mexico’s Ministry of the Interior (Segob) has established the Table for Liberty and Access to Justice. This new body aims to coordinate efforts between federal authorities, penitentiary systems, and state entities to identify vulnerable inmates who may qualify for legal benefits.
The initiative seeks to review cases for potential amnesty, early release, or changes in precautionary measures. The working group includes high-ranking officials such as Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Jacobo Rodríguez García of the Decentralized Administrative Body for Prevention and Social Reintegration, and Human Rights Undersecretary Arturo Medina, alongside representatives from various state penitentiary systems including Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Querétaro, the State of Mexico, and Chiapas.
