Mexico SEP announces four-day school break for Day of the Dead 2026

The Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) has confirmed a four-day school break for basic education students during the 2026-2027 academic cycle. The period will run from Friday, October 30, to Monday, November 2, 2026.

The suspension of classes for preschool, primary, and secondary students is due to two factors: the scheduled School Technical Council (CTE) session on October 30 and the commemoration of Day of the Dead on November 2. This applies to both public and private schools incorporated into the SEP system.

While students will be off, teachers and school administrators are required to attend the CTE sessions on October 30 to review educational progress and organize learning strategies. Students are scheduled to return to classes on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
