Mexico's Tax Authority Expands Mobile Office Program Nationwide

The Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) is intensifying its on‑site assistance by deploying mobile office units to 28 Mexican states during the week of 22‑26 June. The itinerant modules will offer services such as registration in the Federal Taxpayers Registry (RFC), issuance of electronic signatures, and tax‑status certificates without the need for prior appointments. In the previous week (8‑12 June) the program handled 15,440 procedures for 7,685 taxpayers across 51 municipalities, aiming to reduce travel time and improve compliance in urban and rural areas.

In Baja California, SAT director Jesús García Castro promoted the "Amigos del SAT" initiative, which encourages voluntary tax regularisation through advisory support and simplified procedures. He said, “Queremos recaudar siendo amigables. Nuestra premisa es regularizar más que multar. Lo que buscamos es que el sector productivo vea al SAT como un aliado y no como un enemigo.” The programme, still in its pilot phase, has already assisted a handful of companies in settling tax credits and is expected to be evaluated by late 2026. García Castro also noted a backlog of about 7,000 foreign‑origin vehicle owners awaiting license plates due to a shortage of federal stickers, and said the SAT is seeking tolerance from authorities until the issue is resolved.
