MG expands presence under Chinese owner SAIC Motor

MG, the automotive brand with British origins, is currently owned by the Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor, which acquired the company in 2007. While the brand maintains design and engineering presence in the United Kingdom, its industrial structure is part of the Shanghai-based SAIC conglomerate.

In its Chinese market, MG has launched the MG 07, a plug-in hybrid sedan. The model has been priced lower than initial expectations, starting at approximately 108,900 yuan (roughly 13,900 euros) for the base plug-in hybrid version. The vehicle features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a 204 CV electric motor. According to the Chinese CLTC cycle, the car offers an electric range of 245 kilometers and a total combined range of up to 1,745 kilometers.
