MG Motor India expands SUV lineup with Hector Hawk PHEV/EV as Windsor EV reaches 75,000 sales

JSW MG Motor India is set to unveil the first plug‑in hybrid SUV for the Indian market, the MG Hector Hawk, on 16 July 2026. The model will be built on the globally sold Wuling Starlight 560 platform and will be offered in both plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric (EV) variants. The PHEV combines a 1.5‑litre Atkinson‑cycle petrol engine with a 197 hp electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery, delivering up to 1,100 km combined range and a 100 km electric‑only range. The EV version uses a 136 hp motor with a 56.7 kWh pack for a claimed 500 km range. Both versions are expected to feature 8‑inch infotainment and digital instrument displays, ADAS safety systems, panoramic sunroof and multiple seat‑configuration options.

Separately, MG’s Windsor electric SUV has crossed the 75,000‑unit sales milestone in India, achieving over 19,000 sales in the first half of 2026. The model, which pioneered the Battery‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) offering, is available with a 38 kWh battery (332 km range) or a 52.9 kWh pack (449 km range). Prices start at INR 9.99 lakh under the BaaS scheme, with a usage fee of INR 3.9 per kilometre. The Windsor’s strong market performance is credited with accelerating EV adoption across metros and emerging non‑metro regions.
