MG unveils ADAPT platform in India, plans EV and PHEV launch by FY2026‑27

JSW MG Motor India introduced the ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform, its first multi‑powertrain NEV architecture for the Indian market. The modular system can accommodate electric vehicles (EV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug‑in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and range‑extender electric vehicles (REEV). Key components include a dedicated hybrid petrol engine, a dedicated battery pack, India's first 10‑in‑1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and what MG calls the world’s first electromagnetic dedicated hybrid transmission. An intelligent energy management system selects among four drive modes – Pure Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Engine Direct – to optimise efficiency and performance.

The company confirmed that one EV and one PHEV built on ADAPT will debut by the 2026‑27 financial year, likely based on the Starlight SUV test mules already spotted on Indian roads. Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said the platform gives customers flexibility to choose the energy solution that best fits their lifestyle without compromising performance or efficiency. MG joins other Indian manufacturers such as Hyundai, Kia, Tata and Toyota in expanding hybrid offerings for the market.
