MGC-262 highway bypass opens to divert mining trucks in Barão de Cocais

A new route for the MGC-262 highway has been opened in Barão de Cocais, Minas Gerais, to divert heavy mining trucks away from the urban center. The 28.5-kilometer project, executed by the Department of Buildings and Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), involved a R$ 140 million investment.

The new layout includes a 24.6-kilometer stretch connecting Caeté and Barão de Cocais, along with a 3.9-kilometer bypass. This infrastructure aims to reduce noise, dust, and accident risks in residential areas while facilitating the transport of goods to distribution centers and mining sites. Local authorities will continue to monitor traffic flow and may implement further restrictions on heavy vehicles within the city if necessary.
