Miami Dolphins acquire quarterback Kyle McCord from Green Bay Packers

The Miami Dolphins have acquired quarterback Kyle McCord from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick. The trade, which was confirmed by both teams on August 30, follows a series of roster adjustments by Miami, including the prior trade of Quinn Ewers to Jacksonville for a similar draft pick.

McCord, a 23-year-old in his second NFL season, previously played for Ohio State and Syracuse. During his time at Syracuse, he led the NCAA in passing yards with 4,779. His recent preseason performance with Green Bay, where he recorded a 102.4 passer rating, reportedly influenced Miami’s decision to bolster their quarterback room.

The Dolphins' 2026 roster reflects a significant shift toward youth. The current 53-man roster includes 27 players with less than two years of experience, a notable increase from the 16 players in the 2025 season, following a period of roster overhauls and draft capital accumulation.
