Miami mother arrested for child abuse and arson

Meliza Campos-Sanchez, a 26-year-old mother in Miami, Florida, has been arrested following a series of disturbing incidents involving her two young daughters, aged six and three. Authorities charged her with first-degree arson, child abuse, and child neglect after reviewing videos she allegedly posted to her Instagram account.

According to investigators, the footage showed Campos-Sanchez wearing a silver mask and dancing in her kitchen while pouring a liquid onto clothing and setting it ablaze with a lighter. Another video reportedly captured her pouring hot candle wax onto her own leg and then onto the hands of her crying children. The six-year-old daughter told police that she and her sister witnessed the fire being started and eventually used a bowl of water to extinguish the flames.

Following the incident, Campos-Sanchez was briefly held for a mental health evaluation. Her husband, who had previously contacted authorities expressing concerns for the children's safety, has since taken custody of the girls. Investigators recovered a silver mask, a lighter, and suspected flammable liquid from the scene.
