Michael Frey scores twice in successful Antwerp comeback

Swiss striker Michael Frey made a successful return to Royal Antwerp FC, scoring two goals in a 2-1 victory against SK Beveren at the Bosuil stadium. One of his goals was a spectacular bicycle kick, which Frey noted was likely one of the most beautiful goals he has ever scored.

Frey's return follows a period at QPR and a previous stint with Antwerp that ended under difficult circumstances. Despite past tensions, the player reported a warm reception from the supporters. He expressed his affection for the city and the club, stating, “I love the city, I love the club.”

At 32, Frey emphasized his readiness for the season ahead, noting the quality and hunger of the current young squad at Antwerp. He mentioned that while the start was excellent, he remains focused on the upcoming matches in the season.
