Michael Johnston joins cast of The Mummy 4

Actor Michael Johnston has confirmed his role in the upcoming film ‘The Mummy 4’, clarifying that he will play an entirely new character rather than the son of Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. In an interview with Attitude magazine, Johnston noted that the production is returning to the franchise's original formula.

The new installment will serve as a direct sequel to ‘The Mummy Returns’, effectively ignoring the events of the third film in the series. The film will see the return of original leads Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, alongside John Hannah, Oded Fehr, and Kevin J. O’Connor.

Directed by the duo known as Radio Silence, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the film features a screenplay by David Coggeshall. While specific plot details remain confidential, the production aims to recapture the adventure and action elements of the first two films. The movie is expected to arrive in theaters in 2027.
