Michael Penix Jr. continues ACL rehabilitation with Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is continuing his rehabilitation following his third ACL injury. The former first-round pick is currently limited to individual drills and 7-on-7 action during training camp, as he has not yet been cleared for full-contact 11-on-11 drills.
Penix, who previously suffered ACL tears while at Indiana University and during his first season with the Falcons, stated that his primary concern is being cleared by his doctor for contact. He noted that while he can evade pressure, he is waiting for medical approval to handle direct hits.
In his absence, Tua Tagovailoa has been serving as the Falcons' starting quarterback. Tagovailoa, who joined the team after being released by the Miami Dolphins, has faced challenges during training camp, including recent struggles during two-minute drills. The Falcons' depth at the position has also been bolstered by the addition of undrafted rookie Jack Strand and veteran Cooper Rush.
