Michael Penix Jr. likely to start for Falcons against Bears
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is likely to start this Sunday against the Chicago Bears, provided there are no setbacks with his rib injury. Head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed optimism on Wednesday, stating that Penix is feeling better, though he noted that availability depends on how recovery progresses.
Penix sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of the Falcons' 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He missed the final drive of regulation and the overtime period, which was played by backup Tua Tagovailoa. Penix has recorded 719 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in three starts this season.
In Chicago, the Bears are also monitoring quarterback Caleb Williams, who is working toward a return from a Week 2 hamstring injury. Williams has participated in limited practice and agility drills, and his return could see him reclaim the starting role from backup Tyson Bagent.
