Michael Schanze finds new apartment in Munich after lengthy search

German entertainer and musical composer Michael Schanze, 79, has secured a new apartment in the Munich district of Obermenzing following a months-long search. The move follows the termination of his previous rental agreement, as the building he occupied for 13 years is scheduled for demolition and reconstruction.

Schanze faced significant challenges due to specific requirements, including the need for an elevator to accommodate a progressive nerve disease and sufficient space for his concert grand piano. While he initially sought a residence of at least 110 square meters, his new home is slightly smaller, measuring under 100 square meters. He had established a maximum monthly rent of 3,000 euros.

The move is scheduled for November 15, and Schanze plans to celebrate his 80th birthday in the new residence this coming January. He will receive organizational support from a school friend as well as the Caritas and senior assistance services.
