Michelle Bolsonaro says Flávio Bolsonaro humiliated her in phone call

The former first lady of Brazil, Michelle Bolsonaro, posted two videos on social media on 24 June accusing her son‑in‑law, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, of humiliating and mistreating her during a telephone conversation. She quoted Flávio as saying she should stay out of the Liberal Party’s (PL) decisions and that she “didn’t understand politics,” describing the exchange as a “stab” and “rude”. Michelle’s grievance stems from her opposition to the PL’s planned alliance with Ciro Gomes in the Ceará governorship race; she backs Eduardo Girão and urges the party to support a female Senate candidate, Priscila Costa.

Flávio Bolsonaro responded the next day, denying any intention to offend, saying he has never disrespected a woman, and apologising if Michelle felt hurt. He emphasized respect for her role in PL Mulher and reaffirmed that his political choices follow the guidance of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro. The dispute highlighted a public rift within the Bolsonaro family and the PL, raising concerns about its impact on Flávio’s 2026 presidential bid and Michelle’s own Senate campaign.

Separately, a journalist was ordered to pay damages for calling Michelle a former “prostitute,” underscoring the heightened tension surrounding her public profile.
