Michigan court sentences Chinese national for running human trafficking ring

Jin Jingyu, a 46-year-old Chinese national, has been sentenced to between 40 months and 20 years in prison for her role in operating a large-scale human trafficking and forced prostitution ring in Michigan.

According to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, the operation was one of the largest forced commercial sex enterprises ever uncovered in the state. Jin owned and operated two illicit massage parlors in the metro Detroit area: 111 Healing Studio in St. Clair Shores and AM Healing Studio in Sterling Heights. The ring involved numerous Chinese and Korean women who were trafficked across the ocean to work at these locations.

Jin pleaded no contest to conducting a criminal enterprise. Her charges included money laundering, accepting earnings from prostitution, and maintaining a house of prostitution. Several accomplices were also arrested, including Piao Huazi, a Chinese national who received a similar sentence of 40 months to 20 years, and Jon Villasurda Sr., a U.S. citizen scheduled for sentencing in September.
