Michigan man and Pennsylvania snake handler suffer rattlesnake bites

A man in Michigan was bitten by an Eastern Massasauga rattlesnake while filming the reptile at a boat launch on Pro Lake Recreation Area in Commerce Township. He was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital, where doctors administered generic antivenom and reported his symptoms as tingling in the finger. He is recovering after a brief hospital stay.

In Pennsylvania, 31‑year‑old snake handler Mark Kline was bitten on the finger after manually grabbing a timber rattlesnake on Mount Davis in Somerset County. He was air‑lifted to Conemaugh Medical Center, where doctors treated severe swelling and an allergic reaction. Kline warned that the bite may require removal of his ring finger, saying, "It's probably going to be removed," and he will miss about a month of work while he heals.
