Michigan theatre companies host horror-themed October productions

Michigan-based theatre companies are hosting horror-themed productions throughout October.

The Michigan State University Department of Theatre is presenting ‘Midnite,’ a horror-comedy reimagining of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ Written by Reina Hardy and Rory Leahy and directed by Rob Roznowski, the production features elements of drag and a supernatural plot involving a killer donkey. Performances are scheduled at the Arena Theatre from October 9 through October 18.

In Marshall, the Greatest Escape Stage Company will perform ‘Evil Dead The Musical.’ Based on the classic films, the musical follows five college students who encounter an evil force in an abandoned cabin. The production features musical numbers and comedic horror elements, with shows running from October 22 through Halloween.
