Michoacán Governor Bedolla says Arantepacua protest aimed to destabilize state

On Monday, a small group of comuneros from the indigenous community of Arantepacua in Nahuatzen, Michoacán, gathered outside Casa Michoacán in Morelia. The protesters blocked nearby roads, burned tires and briefly detained a LPG gas pipe before leaving after about ten minutes.

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and Secretary of Government Raúl Zepeda Villaseñor said the demonstrators had no formal petition or mandate from the community assembly and accused them of trying to destabilize the state. The state government emphasized that dialogue tables are already in place and highlighted ongoing public works in Arantepacua, including a hospital, a livestock pen and school infrastructure. Officials called for peaceful, organized protest and reiterated a policy of non‑repression while they seek clarification of the community’s demands.
