Michoacán Governor Declares Permanent Alert for 2026 Rain and Cyclone Season
Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla of the Mexican state of Michoacán declared a permanent session of the State Civil Protection Council and the State Emergency and Disaster Committee to coordinate a response to the 2026 rainy and tropical cyclone season. He said the alert will cover the months of June through September and warned that 21 weather events are forecast for the period.
The permanent activation is intended to strengthen coordination among federal, state and municipal authorities across all 113 municipalities. Preventive measures include continuous monitoring of the 24 state dams, several of which are already at high water levels, and planning for safe releases. Officials attending the session included the state secretary of government, the civil‑protection coordinator, and the director of Conagua in Michoacán.
