Michoacán Governor meets with Pirinda indigenous communities

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla held a working meeting in Huetamo, Michoacán, with representatives from 42 indigenous communities of the Pirinda people. During the encounter, community leaders expressed appreciation for the state government's presence in the territory, noting that direct engagement helps preserve their culture, traditions, and identity.

Ramírez Bedolla highlighted the state's policy of recognizing indigenous autonomy, stating that Michoacán now has 52 recognized self-governments. He described this as a ‘peaceful revolution’ and a ‘fourth level of government’ that upholds the rights of original peoples.

The meeting also served as a forum for community members to present priority requests regarding public works, healthcare, education, and agricultural development. The governor's delegation included various state secretaries to address these specific sectoral needs.
