Michoacán search collectives find 1,600 baby teeth in clandestine graves

Search collectives have reported the discovery of more than 1,600 baby teeth in clandestine graves located in Zacapu and Tacámbaro, Michoacán. Members of the collective ‘Buscando Cuerpos en Todo México’, led by Margarita López, warned that these remains may belong to minors, including infants and children as young as 11 or 12 years old.

In Tacámbaro, the collective has estimated they have recovered remains that could correspond to at least 375 people, though this figure is based on their own records and has not been officially confirmed. The group noted that authorities had previously mentioned a grave that could potentially contain over 1,000 individuals.

The findings suggest the existence of a network of clandestine graves and illegal cremation centers operated by organized crime in the region. While the number of teeth does not directly equate to the number of victims, forensic studies and identification processes are required to determine the exact origin and identity of the remains.
