The activist collective ‘Buscando Cuerpos en Todo México’, led by Margarita López, reported the discovery of approximately 1,600 baby teeth in clandestine graves and suspected incineration sites in Zacapu and Tacámbaro, Michoacán. The findings reached the Mexican Senate, where Senator Laura Esquivel Torres requested a minute of silence and proposed an agreement to demand a formal investigation. However, local and federal authorities have issued denials. The Michoacán State Prosecutor's Office (FGE) and the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) have both stated they have no official record, formal complaint, or forensic reports confirming the discovery of these specific dental remains. Authorities emphasized that no scientific validation has yet determined if the pieces are of human origin or if they correspond to the number of victims alleged by the collective.

In a related development, the FGE addressed misinformation regarding the region, debunking viral social media videos that claimed a trailer containing the bodies of children was found in Zamora. Officials clarified that the footage used in those claims was manipulated, utilizing an old video from 2019 and unrelated images from a 2016 incident in Veracruz.
