Michoacán Secretariat of Culture launches contemporary dance showcase call
The Michoacán Secretariat of Culture (Secum) has opened a call for participants for the 26th State Contemporary Dance Showcase, scheduled to take place from September to November. The initiative aims to strengthen professionalization, artistic circulation, and audience development across various regions of the state.
The program offers financial support for two distinct categories. For scenic presentations, groups of at least three people can apply with works lasting between 30 and 60 minutes. Selected proposals will receive up to 30,000 pesos and will be performed in Apatzingán, Jiquilpan, Zamora, Pátzcuaro, and Zitácuaro.
For the educational component, individuals with experience in contemporary dance, movement, or artistic mediation can apply to lead workshops. These 20-hour training sessions, aimed primarily at adolescents and adults without professional experience, will receive up to 25,000 pesos in support. These workshops will be held in Peribán, Tanhuato, La Piedad, Zacapu, Maravatío, and Uruapan. Registration remains open until September 8.
