Michoacán cultural and arts education initiatives

Overview

The Michoacán Secretariat of Culture (Secum) has introduced several initiatives to support the arts and professional development within the state.

In late August, Secum launched a call for the 26th State Contemporary Dance Showcase. This program provides financial support for scenic presentations in multiple regions and funds 20-hour workshops led by experienced instructors to benefit adolescents and adults.

Following this, Secum partnered with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) to launch the Professional Experience Accreditation Degree Support Program. Part of the ‘Michoacán for Peace and Justice Plan,’ this initiative offers a four-semester, distance-learning Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Teaching. The program is designed for residents over 30 with at least five years of verifiable artistic experience who have not yet completed higher education.
