Michoacán teleférico works trigger road detours in Morelia and service shutdown in Uruapan

The Secretariat of Urban Development and Mobility (Sedum) began a four‑stage traffic‑detour plan around the Monumento a Lázaro Cárdenas in Morelia, Michoacán, starting July 8. Stage 1 (July 8‑11, 08:00‑18:00) closed the lane from Calzada La Huerta toward the Monument, while the opposite lane remained open. Subsequent stages redirect traffic via the Río Grande bank and Union Street, with alternating lane closures through July 24. The measures aim to keep traffic flowing while construction of the fourth teleférico station proceeds.

In parallel, a second phase of scheduled maintenance on the Uruapan cable‑car system is underway. Stations Boulevard Industrial, Presidencia, Centro and Parque Nacional will stay closed until July 11, while the Hospital–Boulevard Industrial segment already runs normally. Sedum head María Elena Huerta explained that the work includes cable trimming, cabin‑pinch lubrication, mechanical‑arm adjustments and a full cleaning of stations and cabins. Full service is expected to resume on July 12, restoring regular operations for commuters and tourists.
