Morelia Teleférico & Morebús traffic closures

Sedul has expanded its traffic‑detour plan in Morelia to cover the period from 25 July to 19 August, aiming to accelerate work on the city’s new aerial tramway (Teleférico) and the Morebús BRT system during the school vacation. In addition to the earlier lane reductions on Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue, the agency opened a two‑way lane on Avenida Madero that channels vehicles from Tres Puentes toward the city centre, bypassing the Obelisco roundabout. A further two‑way lane was added on the first block of Calle Mintzita along the Río Grande, linking to Calle Rita Pérez de Moreno and Avenida Madero. Civil‑guard personnel continue to direct traffic manually, and traffic signals operate in a preventive mode. Residents are urged to plan trips, follow the suggested detours and obey staff instructions to minimise congestion.

Overall, the situation reflects a phased escalation of traffic management measures in Morelia and surrounding areas to accommodate ongoing Teleférico construction and related public‑transport upgrades, with initial temporary lane reductions expanding into longer‑term closures and more extensive detour arrangements.
