Mickey Gasper faces significant biceps injury, potentially missing Red Sox playoffs

Boston Red Sox player Mickey Gasper has sustained a significant right biceps injury that may sideline him for the remainder of the season and the upcoming playoffs. The injury occurred during the fifth inning of Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

Manager Chad Tracy stated that while doctors are still evaluating the extent of the injury, it is “probably gonna take him out.” Gasper, who has provided significant offensive and defensive value during the second half of the season, was replaced by Connor Wong during the game.

Gasper’s absence is a notable blow to the Red Sox roster as they prepare for the Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees. During a high-performing stretch between August 17 and September 4, Gasper posted a .378/.525/1.000 slash line, contributing eight home runs and 15 RBIs.
