Mickoski pledges central budget support for Macedonian municipalities

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has announced continued government support for municipalities to implement citizen-priority projects. During a visit to the Ceshinovo-Obleshevo municipality, Mickoski stated that the government plans to launch a new call for funding from the central budget next year to support local self-government.

A key priority identified for the municipality is resolving long-standing water supply issues in many settlements. To fund such initiatives, the government expects a top-up to the previous 750 million euro allocation through the reform agenda. This funding structure consists of one-third budget liquidity, one-third grants via the Western Balkans Investment Framework, and one-third low-interest loans scheduled for repayment starting in 2035.
