Micron Technology workers in Taiwan threaten strike over bonus limits

Union representatives at Micron Technology's plant in Taoyuan, Taiwan, have called a meeting to discuss a possible strike. Workers object to the company's bonus system, which caps extra pay at 200 % of salary and can be applied for a maximum of five months. They argue the formula does not reflect the record profits driven by the AI boom and is less competitive than the profit‑share models used by rivals such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which have removed upper limits.

The dispute mirrors recent labour tensions in the regional semiconductor sector, including past protests at Samsung and TSMC over compensation. If negotiations fail, a strike could disrupt Micron's production and add costly labor conflicts to an industry already facing heightened demand and tight supply chains.
