In mid-September, the dispute intensified after Micron announced a record-breaking compensation package for fiscal year 2026, including a 1 million TWD cash bonus for eligible employees. Unions rejected this one-time scheme, accusing Micron of attempting to influence public perception by unilaterally announcing bonuses during mediation. They noted the proposed bonuses represent only about 4.4% of operating profits.

Following the failure of a second mediation session on September 21, labor mediation in Taoyuan has reached an impasse. The Taiwan Micron Memory Union announced it will move forward with a strike vote, citing the lack of a concrete profit-sharing proposal. While the Taoyuan mediation failed, a second session with the Taichung union is scheduled for October 22. Micron has stated it remains committed to constructive dialogue and maintains a global policy protecting the right to peaceful assembly without fear of retaliation.
