Microsoft and Leitmotif introduce new photo backup solutions

Microsoft has introduced a new Camera Roll Backup feature for Windows 11, designed to simplify the process of securing smartphone photos. Through recent updates, users can initiate the setup process directly from their Windows PC settings. A displayed QR code allows users to complete the configuration on their mobile device, enabling supported photos and videos to be automatically saved to Microsoft OneDrive and accessed on a PC.

Separately, the photo backup application Parachute, developed by Leitmotif GmbH, has received an update. The tool is designed to back up Mac Photo libraries to external storage to prevent data loss from iCloud errors. The update includes a redesigned interface that displays backup status and error reports. New features allow for mirroring libraries, where deleted items are moved to a dedicated folder, and the ability to exclude specific files like screenshots. Users can also create multiple backup plans with custom schedules and utilize new shortcuts on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
