Microsoft and NVIDIA unveil AI‑focused Surface Laptop Ultra

Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra in partnership with NVIDIA on May 31, 2026. The device incorporates NVIDIA's new RTX Spark (Blackwell RTX) chip, delivering up to one petaflop of AI compute and supporting local models with up to 120 billion parameters. It offers up to 128 GB of unified memory that is shared dynamically between CPU and GPU, a 15‑inch mini‑LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen (262 ppi, up to 2000 nits HDR), and a robust dual‑fan, dual‑heat‑pipe cooling system designed for sustained high‑performance workloads.

The laptop targets developers, AI builders, and creative professionals, aiming to run demanding tasks such as video upscaling, 3D rendering, and large‑scale model inference without reliance on cloud services. Physical ports include USB‑C, USB‑A, HDMI, a full‑size SD card reader, and a headphone jack, while the chassis weighs under 4.5 lb (2 kg) and is less than 18 mm thick. The device was demonstrated live at Computex 2026 in Taipei, where it powered multiple AI‑intensive game demos.

Microsoft positions the Surface Laptop Ultra as the most powerful laptop in its lineup, offering desktop‑class performance in a mobile form factor for professional and creator‑oriented users.
