Microsoft hikes Xbox console prices by up to $150 worldwide

Microsoft announced that, effective 1 August, the prices of its Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will increase by $100‑$150 globally, representing rises of up to about 33 %. The new pricing will be:

- Xbox Series S 512 GB: $399 → $499 - Xbox Series S 1 TB: $449 → $599 - Xbox Series X (digital, 1 TB): $599 → $749 - Xbox Series X (disc, 1 TB): $649 → $799

In addition, the company will discontinue the 2 TB Xbox Series X model entirely. Microsoft attributes the hikes to a sharp surge in memory and storage component costs, which have more than doubled recently and are projected to double again by late 2027. This follows an earlier October price adjustment of $20‑$70. The firm notes that gaming consoles are sold with very thin profit margins, making it difficult to absorb rising production costs.

The changes affect the U.S. market and other regions worldwide, reflecting broader supply‑chain pressures across the electronics industry.
