Microsoft .NET 8 and .NET 9 support to end in November 2026

Microsoft is scheduled to end support for .NET 8 and .NET 9 on November 10, 2026. Unlike Windows or SQL Server, Microsoft will not offer paid extended security updates for these versions, instead directing users to migrate to .NET 10, which will receive Long-Term Support (LTS) until November 2028.

Licensing consultancy ProLicense warns that many organizations, particularly in public administration and state data centers, may face security risks. Even if internal policies mandate LTS versions, individual components or third-party specialized software may still rely on .NET 9, leaving them vulnerable to unpatched flaws after the deadline.

For organizations unable to migrate in time, third-party providers like HeroDevs offer ‘Never-Ending Support’ (NES). This service provides security patches for the .NET runtime, SDK, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, and other components without requiring changes to the existing program code.
