Microsoft PowerToys receives security and feature updates
Microsoft has released PowerToys Preview version 0.101.2632.0, introducing several technical enhancements and security improvements to its open-source utility suite.
A primary focus of this update is the implementation of new security mechanisms within the Workspaces environment. The software now includes warning functions for launching unverified programs that require administrator privileges, allowing users to skip the process or grant a one-time exception to mitigate the risk of unauthorized background execution.
Additional updates include enhancements to the Command Palette, such as the introduction of copyable deep-link commands and improved support for action IDs. The update also features improvements to the Keyboard Manager for better profile persistence, updates to the Environment Variable Editor to handle duplicate entries, and expanded functionality for the Peek module, which now supports read-only previews for SQLite database files.
